Let’s Get Students Up and Moving with a special attention to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility.

What is Dance & Learn?
Dance to Learn is a flexible curriculum designed for students in any subject matter. We take a theme, course, or learning outcome and research it through movement. For example, to support an elementary school science unit, we might explore the patterns of planets and their movement within space. This interdisciplinary mode of learning teaches students the power of kinesthetic understanding while building communities, facilitating social awareness, and focusing on DEIA-concepts. Dance fosters a curiosity in young learners, cultivating empathy and strong communities.
Learning with DEIA
Dance is for all humans, regardless of background, identity, or disability. Dance to Learn give students the opportunity to explore their learning through their own bodies, researching expression and communication. It also teaches us to celebrate our differences and build safe spaces to create and share.
Residencies
Dance & Learn Residencies are usually 16-weeks long but can be tailored to any duration. There are two major chapters in the curriculum. In the first half of the course, students learn to explore dance in terms of Time, Space, and Energy before embarking on a Collaborative Creation process to apply their research. Residencies are often held on-site at schools or community organizations, brought directly to the students.
