brings to life the iconic moment of George Washington crossing the Delaware, as depicted in the famous painting. Dancers of Roxey Ballet will animate this legendary scene in a stirring open-air performance that honors the spirit of resilience, unity, and American identity.

Held at the scenic Old York Cellars, this event invites audiences of all ages to experience professional dance in an informal, family-friendly setting. Bring a blanket or lawn chair, pack a picnic, and enjoy an unforgettable evening of movement, music, and local history brought to life through the power of live performance.

“We wanted to create something that resonates with every New Jerseyan—a work that honors where we’ve been and where we’re going,” says Mark Roxey, Artistic Director and Founder of Roxey Ballet. “NJ Ballad is not just a performance—it’s a celebration of identity, legacy, and hope.”- Mark Roxey

The performance will feature professional dancers from Roxey Ballet and live music composed by Richard Jarboe and Robert Sands, echoing the rhythm and pulse of the state itself. At its core, the work pays homage to pivotal New Jersey moments, including a nod to the famed George Washington Crossing the Delaware, reimagined through modern choreography and open-air spectacle.
