Roxey Ballet dancers are hand selected from all corners of the world and bring an array of skill and texture to the performances of the company.
The company takes pride in its multicultural and all-inclusive organization, fostering a creative environment of growth for all.
Roxey Ballet was incorporated in 1995 as a New Jersey non-profit organization whose mission is to deliver artistic and cultural excellence through professional dance performances, residencies, educational programs, workshops, and master classes.
Roxey Ballet makes every effort to be totally accessible physically and programmatically.
We welcome and educate artists with disabilities, cultural diversity, of varying genders and promote equality for their greater fulfillment and experience. We come from diversity and are proud of our commitment to anti-racism, equity and inclusion. As artists and arts educators we communicate empathy, respect, and cultural diversity through our art form and in our everyday activities. We provide a safe space for learning, creating, sharing, and collaborating. For 27 years this has been our purpose and it will persevere as we move forward. Our unique and diverse works are inspirational to audiences and artists alike. Access to high-quality dance performance and education is paramount.
Roxey Ballet has lead the charge in the world of professional dance in bringing dance to underserved populations, especially students and artists with significant disabilities.
Roxey Ballet has been transforming communities through interactive programs that communicate human, civil, disability rights, women's health initiatives, bullying and the cultural condition. We explore humanistic ideas to renovate and educate the public using dance, spoken word, and music as the form of communication.
Roxey Ballet also partners with schools and community centers to provide a dance education programs to students with physical, learning, and emotional disabilities. Roxey Ballet uses dance classes to help these students, many from inner city, high- poverty communities, to learn to express themselves through movement, to channel their emotions through art, and to be proud of dance traditions from their heritages.
Roxey Ballet's programs are made possible in part by funds from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts, a partner agency of the National Endowment for the Arts, The New Jersey Cultural Trust, The Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation, VSA Kennedy Center The International Organization on Arts & Disabilities, Church and Dwight, Hunterdon County Cultural & Heritage Commission, Dance NJ, The Princeton Area Community Foundation, and by private donations from individuals and businesses.
