Roxey Ballet Welcomes New Board Members
Roxey Ballet is pleased to announce new Board Members providing leadership and experience to the organization. While the Covid-19 pandemic has wreaked havoc on all our lives, and the ballet company is no exception, the strength of our community to unite and solidify towards keeping Roxey Ballet alive showcases the spirit of our humanity. We are honored to welcome these Trustees to the Roxey Ballet family.
Austin Jarboe (Treasurer) - is familiar with Roxey Ballet and The Mill Ballet School having trained and performed with the company as a young person. He is the Manager at KMPG in Stamford, CT, over seeing Auditing and Accounting. He is married to former Roxey Ballet Principal Dancer, Teacher and Choreographer Tara Jarboe and together they are uniting the Roxey Ballet Alumni to fund future endeavors.
Michael Kirchner (Board Member) - has worked for Mercedes-Benz for 13 years repeatedly advancing for the benefit of the organization. He held positions ranging from customer experience and analytics to market operations. His current role is improving the bottom line for the stores throughout New England, while also ensuring proper corporate governance and identifying market opportunities to increase revenue. He thrives in a collaborative, creative atmosphere and for those reasons will put these skills to use in the service of Roxey Ballet.
Dr. Shannen Kirchner PT, DPT, (Board Member) - is the creator and owner of Healing Mother Physical Therapy and Wellness, LLC and a specialist in pelvic health physical therapy and dance rehabilitation. She received her clinical doctorate from Columbia University College of Physicians & Surgeons in 2012, and certifications in pelvic rehabilitation education from Herman & Wallace Institute, allowing her to treat patients even without a prescription. By integrating pelvic floor and abdominal rehabilitation with orthopedics, she aids dancers through complex injuries or pain and mothers through pregnancy and the postpartum periods with a comprehensive and unique approach. Shannen has guided many people to their recovery from back, hip and pelvic pain as well as a variety of conditions of the bowel, bladder, and sexual organs.
Scott Schied (Board Member) - has been a frequent performer in several seasons of Roxey Ballet's Annual Holiday Classic The Nutcracker, as well as, an avid volunteer for backstage and crew work. He is an executive at Wells Fargo and is committed to assisting Roxey Ballet in surviving and reviving to create a stronger organization moving forward.
Lees Hummel (Board Member) - has been a major force in promoting dance through education initiatives and programming for most of her life. She earned her B.F.A. in Dance and M.F.A. in Pedagogy & Choreography (ten years apart) from New York University's Tisch School of the Arts. She has held academic positions at the University of Miami, Rider University, Miami Dade Community College; New World School of the Arts, University of North Carolina Charlotte, Winthrop University Central Piedmont Community College, Western Kentucky University, Southeast Missouri State University, and Raritan Valley Community College. In Miami, Florida she assisted in creating the Sunshine State Standards for Dance in grades K-12. Since arriving in New Jersey, Lees has promoted dance through administration and education initiatives, assisting in writing the state standards in dance and currently as the Director of Education and Outreach and grant writing for Roxey Ballet.
