Meet the Dancers: Diana Figueroa
I am Cuban American from Miami, Florida. I began dancing with Rosario Suarez a Cuban Prima ballerina, I then attended Miami Conservatory ballet under the direction of Ruth Wiesen where I danced on scholarship for numerous years. I also attended New World school of the Arts, and then graduated from The Harid Conservatory in Boca Raton, Florida.
I have performed in various states including Florida, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, North Carolina, Vermont, and New York. I decided to become a dancer when I was 13, it was the first year I started dancing intensively. I have also competed in YAGP competitons and made it in to the New York City finals. The process was very rigorous but I wouldn't change it for anything, it has molded me into the person I am today.
I have been the lead in ballets choreographed by Septime Weber, Balanchine, Emery Lecrone, and Peter Merz. I recently graduated from Point Park with a BFA. Since graduating I have danced with Merztanz Contemporary ballet company under the direction of Peter Merz and I recently danced with Atlantic City Ballet doing guest work for Swan Lake. This will be my 1st season with Roxey.
