Pinja Sinisalo was born in Vantaa, Finland. She started her dance studies at the Helsinki Dance Institute at age of 4 and was later accepted to the Institute's Professional Training Program from 2005-2012. Pinja continued her studies with the Finnish National Ballet School, completing the Vocational Qualification in Dance. At the age of 16 she had the privilege of being accepted at the Hungarian Dance Academy in Budapest, under the direction of Szakály György. Pinja trained in classical ballet and contemporary dance and also participated the school's in-house competitions. She received the 3rd prize in the choreography competition with her piece "Szürkület" in 2014 and a jury diploma with her piece "Forgotten" in 2015. She also won the 3rd prize in the non- solo category, with the duet "Neapolitan Dance from Swan Lake", in 2016. Pinja graduated in 2017, completing the Bachelor Degree in Arts specializing in Classical Ballet. From there she began her professional career with Ballet of Sorbisches National Ensemble, under the direction of Mia Facchinelli in Bautzen, Germany touring Europe with the company, performing a versatile repertoire of different styles - ballet, folk dance, contemporary and dance theatre. Pinja spent her summers from 2013 - 2018 attending the SIBA International Ballet Workshop where she assisted the artistic director of Salzburg Ballet, Peter Breuer, staging his piece "Bolero" for the workshop's performances. Pinja has also taught masterclasses in Finland.
This is Pinja's second season with Roxey Ballet where she also teaches at the Mill Ballet School and the Dance to Learn Curriculum.
