Azusa Okamoto was born in Japan and began her training at the age of three attending Fukutani Yoko Ballet Studio in Kyoto, Japan. She moved to Canada at the age of sixteen and received a full Scholarship to train at the Victoria Academy of Ballet, continuing on to graduate from the Post-Secondary Bridge Program and earn a Diploma in Classical Ballet.
She has performed many roles in both Classical and Contemporary repertoires including Dew Drop, Arabian, Sugar Plum in "Nutcracker", Le Corsaire Grand Pas de Deux, Paquita Grand Pas de Deux,
Fairy Godmother in "Cinderella" etc. Also, she performed in "Carmina Burana" and "Nixon in China" both with live choir and orchestra.

First Prize at the 23rd Kobe Dance Competition.
First Prize at the 2nd NAMUE Grand Final Ballet Competition.
First Prize at the 26th NAMUE Ballet Competition.
2nd Prize at the 12th Osaka Prix Ballet Competition in Japan.
Top 12 at the YAGP Seattle in both Classical and Contemporary in 2015 and 2016.
First Prize at YAGP 2016 in the Ensemble category.
This is Azusa's third season with Roxey Ballet
